celebrating a day.
it seems so silly.
a natural change of night to morning.
each day is a new one.
why do we celebrate one digit.
2-0-0-_.

I know why because I get it.
I understand needing a new year.
I understand needing silly hope.
that a new year will change me.
that a new year will be different.

but I don’t believe in resolutions.

so where do we go from here.
how are you going to be different
if you don’t make one resolution.
you need a plan.
My plan is to not repeat my mistakes.

in 2007, I:
smoked.
kissed one more boy I didn’t like.
wasted a lot of money on:
alcohol.
food.
music.
on other people.
cigarettes.
trusted, put my trust in, a human.
wasn’t in The Word.
wasn’t at church, even though I was going.
let depression defeat me.
lied a lot.
had to hide a lot.
from God. my parents. my friends.
let go of all discipline.
did not look, act, or talk like myself.

So that’s what I’m giving to God.
resolutions are made to be broken.
so I won’t make any.
I will just live one day at a time.
I’m going to mess up sometimes.
because I am human.

So if a resolution is what you want..
I’m going to try in 2008 to not be my 2007 self.
and I’m going to try one day at a time.
everyday.
no matter how bad I might fail the day before.
